Feature report

Makitoo enables you to visualize the impact of your features on your key metrics. Therefore, you will learn how to set up your KPIs and how to create some features.

Define your KPIs

In order to measure the impact of your features on your key metrics, you first need to define your KPIs. How?

  • Click on the “KPIs” tab

  • Click on “Create a new KPI”
    • Name your KPI to be explicit
    • Describe it (as if you discover it in one year)
    • Map it with one of your data collected

Define a new feature

You can now create a new feature.

  • Click on the “Feature” tab

  • Click on “Add a feature”
    • Name your feature
    • Describe it (as if you discover it in one year)
    • Select the release date (it will define the before / after for the correlation)
    • Define the objective you are expected with this feature
    • Define which event is your usage metric
    • Assign some KPIs to follow

How to analyze your report?

You need to wait for a few days to collect enough data. We recommend you to define your feature 1 week before it is released and to analyze your report 1 week after it has been released.

Then, you need to ask you two main questions: * Is my feature used by enough people? * Has it a positive growth on my KPIs?

If the two answers are ‘yes’, congrats! If not, you may need to get qualitative feedback, iterate or even to kill the idea.

How do you correlate the feature with KPIs?

The correlation is based on the date you defined. * Before the date, metrics without the feature. * After the date, metrics with the feature.

Do you want more precision on your data? Please refer to the next chapter “Feature flag”. It will require to add a few lines in your code, but you will be able to know exactly the with vs. without metrics.
